How it All Began
Dale Pearce started The Carpet Shoppe as a new business in 1970. At inception The Carpet Shoppe occupied only 1,500 square feet, but growth was rapid and a lease was signed to occupy the building next door in 1972. The two buildings were combined in order to provide 11,200 square feet for showrooms and offices. The first warehouse was built in 1973, and two additional warehouses have been built since. Currently The Carpet Shoppe occupies 30,000 square feet, making it one of the largest specialty floor covering stores in the nation operating under one roof.
Over the years the company has added additional types of floor covering and now in addition to carpet, sells and installs vinyl flooring, plastic laminates, factory finished hardwood floors and ceramic, porcelain and natural stone floors. The company also ranks among the top 5% in volume of sales nationally for specialty stores that don’t have multiple stores such as chains. We have found that success is never a one-person show. It takes a team effort from all employees and installation crews, who are dedicated in providing products and services for customers in order to meet their needs. There is a sign in the showroom stating “Service Beyond Our Customers’ Expectations”. The sign has been placed where the sales and support staff can readily see it. Dale’s main motto when he started the business (and still is) is to treat people the way you would want to be treated. That philosophy is deeply embedded and holds true for all employees, vendors, and customers.
