Care & Maintenance

Routine Laminate Floor Cleaning

To Keep Your Floors Looking New

When you develop your laminate cleaning routine, be sure to reference your product’s warranty information for specific care requirements as recommended by the manufacturer.

Routine maintenance of your laminate floors should consist of sweeping, dusting, or vacuuming regularly.  Doing so will help prevent the accumulation of dirt and grit that would otherwise scratch or dull the floor’s finish after being ground in by foot traffic.

Never wet mop your laminate floor using soap, water, detergents, or any other liquid cleaning material.  Laminate is a wood product and can swell, warp, or separate when exposed to excessive moisture.  This also voids your warranty in most cases.  Avoid buffing, polishing, steel wool, abrasive cleaners, ammonia & chlorine.

Dealing With Spills & Stains On Your Laminate Floors

As soon as a spill occurs, use a clean, damp cloth to blot it up. Do not allow liquid to stand as it may seep into the plank and cause damage.  For stains, do not scrub or rub to lift them out the surface.  It is important to use laminate-specific flooring cleaner to avoid dulling or damaging the surface of your floor.
