Develop A Proper Cleaning Routine For Your Carpet

Whenever you develop a cleaning routine, be sure to reference the manufacturer’s specific care requirements.

We recommend having your carpet professionally cleaned every 12-18 months. Most professional services will use a method called hot water extraction. This method shoots hot water into your carpet to loosen embedded dirt, dust, and other particles and uses powerful suction to lift the debris out for a fresh, clean carpet.

When dealing with stains and spills, it is important to refer to the manufacturer’s specific care requirements. Always blot from the outside of the spill in, never scrub, and be sure to use a clean, dry rag to blot until dry. Leaving cleaning residue on the carpet can create a sticky build-up and more staining.

Preventative Maintenance

  • Avoid tracking dirt inside by placing mats and shoe racks at all entrances. Doormats will help catch soil, moisture, and debris that would otherwise be tracked into the home. Clean them regularly so they don’t work against you.
  • Occasionally rearrange furniture to keep from crushing your carpet. When moving larger items, be sure to use carpet sliders or put protectors under furniture legs to avoid snagging any fibers and creating runs.
  • Rearranging furniture will keep your carpet from fading unevenly if your room receives ample amounts of UV rays.
